DMBC Would Rather Risk A Child’s Safety Than Risk A ‘Claim’

February 3, 2009

Many schools in Doncaster stayed open during the so called ‘big freeze’ (although 20 years ago it was known as a ‘cold snap’ – but we’re made of softer stuff nowadays). But we’ve spoken to several mothers who’ve been telling us about Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council’s decision not to grit concreted areas within some school grounds because if children were to fall in gritted areas then parents would be able to claim compensation from the council, whereas the council can not be sued if they haven’t laid grit. So now, of course, children are at greater risk of falling!

Doncaster – a great place to visit, but don’t bring your kids!
