Arms Dealer Gets What’s Coming To Him… (kinda*)

November 21, 2009

Millionaire Doncaster businessman and total wanker, Andrew Jackson, has been jailed for selling former military vehicles to a war-torn African country. Jackson is the owner of  L Jackson and Co Ltd, who are based at Misson, near Bawtry. They supply military vehicles to, er…, well, anyone with money really.

In fact Andrew Jackson ended up in the nick because he greedily ignored repeated official warnings not to export the 15 amphibious personnel carriers to Sudan. He chose to ship £322,000-worth of 15 Hagglund BV206s to Africa even though he had been refused an export license.

After his arrest Jackson complained that trade restrictions were crippling his business. Which is a bit rich when you consider that his ‘business’ is the arms trade – scum like Jackson literally cripple people on a daily basis!

We’re not fans of the prison system, but it’s nice to see that a real criminal has been sent to jail for a change (*just a shame it wasn’t a lot more of the scumbags and for a lot longer).

If you want to know more about the arms trade then visit CAAT.

If you want to tell L Jackson and Co Ltd exactly what you think about their business practices…

Our friend sent the following request via their automated message service

I here you do a good line in Hagglund BV206s and was wondering if you could fit them with extended pedals to make it easier for my child soldiers to drive them?

    Yours in war,
    Minni

P.S I like your link to UK Export Licensing Procedures, very ironic 😉

Do you know what a Hagglund BV206 is?
    GRP body, no armour
Just a very good off road vehicle
    No armaments

The vehicle is not the problem, its the people who drive them and your children to war
The vehicle provides less protection than your average Chelsea tractor

Seems like it’s not just our government who’s prepared to put it’s troops lives at risk with inadequate equipment 😉

But the point remains the same, the order was placed to make it easier to move troops in an illegal and highly unstable war-zone.
