First Donny, Now Dartford – The English Democrat’s Marmite Mayor Machine!

December 22, 2009

The English Democrat Party, home of our Elected Mayor, are launching a campaign in Dartford, Kent, to try and get the town a directly elected council leader or mayor – just like ours!

And just like ours, the English Democrat chairman and possible  mayoral candidate, Mike Tibby, has a lot of respect locally; as this quote from Newsshopper clearly illustrates…

“That Tibby bloke is just a sad little man. Why do something to create a powerful individual who can do anything they want. Just another stunt by a bunch of crackpots.”

Experiences in Doncaster – under Mayor’s Davies and Winter – prove that an Elected Mayor is bad news for any town – so please, for the sake of what’s left of local democracy, DON’T DO IT DARTFORD!

We are obviously not fans of the English Democrats, in fact we have our own plans for England 😉 …

  1. On the other hand, an elected mayor could be a good thing for the town. I have stayed in hotels in Dartford on business, and it doesn’t seem like the town could do with a major overhaul, but an elected mayor (whether English Democrat or whatever party) might be able to consider what the actual inhabitants want.

  2. Just a smiling visitor here to share the love (:, btw great layout. “He who will not reason is a bigot he who cannot is a fool and he who dares not is a slave.” by Sir William Drummond.
